Meet Naradatta. What we see here is an amazing transformation of this humble monk which has deep roots and consequences.

Naradatta committed a crime. In order to save one boy’s life, he sacrificed a lot of animals which were used against their will to forward a message to the famous healer and saint named Asita. Asita heard them and telepathically replied Naradatta with the medicinal recipe.

But at the same time he scolded and punished Naradatta. For atonement Asita ordered his pupil to abandon humanity and live like a beast for the rest of life.

Pure, unmatched humility and obedience were enough for Naradatta to to do just as it was said. The transformation we see above is not a magical ritual or some kind of effect of hypnosis. It’s just adjusting to a new role by completely sane and free individual - as one can judge by looking at Naradatta’s face at second panel on second page.

Four decades later Buddha will meet Naradatta dying in the wilderness. After witnessing his last moments, Buddha acknowledges that Naradatta’s holiness is greater than his own.

Adolf is an epic story of three Adolfs - Adolf Hitler and childhood friends Adolf Kaufmann and Adolf Kamil - one being of German-Japanese origin and another a Jew. It’s an outstanding historical drama by Osamu Tezuka, next to Ayako. Although this one is much longer and complicated.
Tezuka kept the visual style of his most serious novels equally serious and realistic. But the panel above is an exception, depicting the rape in a symbolic way with its stages clearly readable.

Toshiko Tomura is the most popular writer of her generation. She’s also achieved success as an actress and designer. What’s the truth behind this tremendously talented woman, who’s not even 25 years old?
From time to time Toshiko drives from Tokyo to a desolate village. There, in a worn out small cottage, she shuts herself in order to talk to a wax figure of her late mother and then - completely naked - falls asleep between toys, records, artistic tools, various devices and memorabilia.
